George Koller has accumulated hundreds of wildly diverse performing and recording credits in his 26-year musical career: the Shuffle Demons, Phil Woods, Peter Gabriel, Loreena McKennitt, Bruce Cockburn, Holly Cole and Ian Tyson, to name only a few. Recognized primarily as a bass player, George plays a variety of instruments; many featured on his award-winning solo CD, Music for Plants, Animals, and Humans.

George Koller's activities over the last 3 years have included touring with Holly Cole, producing new artists (Julie Michels, Ani Aubin, Deanna Knight, Andree Bernard, and The Toronto Tabla Ensemble), composing new music (guitar, voice chants), and appearing on many new recordings.

Most recently, he has released 2 independent CD's for Yoga practice (Chants des Lumieres, and Music for Internal Arts). His playing of Indian stringed Instruments: Sitar, Sarode, Tanpura, and the violin-like Esraj and Dilruba are featured in the motion picture: Such a long Journey and on Loreena McKennitt, Jane Siberry, and Bruce Cockburn recordings.

George Koller is a standout in a city renowned for it's rich supply of bass players. Readily accepted in mainstream and new wave Jazz circles, which are often mutually exclusive, he never fails to add a new note to whatever group he gigs with. On occasion, he raps the body of his bass like a drum, and sometimes solos with his own style of scat singing. His most recent and most successful flight of creative fancy was Freeunion Collectiv, an open-ended series of jam sessions at Clinton's that attracted as many as two dozen musicians each for a night of improvisational composition.
